Open category training
In order to legally fly drones (other than drones under 250g and drones sold as toys for children under 14), you must first have an A1/A3 drone certificate. You get this by passing a test at the Danish Transport Agency.
If you are to fly drones over 500g in urban areas or closer to airports, you must also have an A2 competence certificate. You get this by passing the Danish Transport Agency's test at Scandinavian Drone Solutions.
Scandinavian Drone Solutions offers in-depth theoretical and practical training that gives you a solid foundation for flying your drone safely and equips you to navigate the rules.
Specific Category Training
If you are a professional and want to start flying in the specific category, SDS has its own approved school, where you can get the necessary theoretical and practical training.
We offer both training for the standard scenarios STS-01 and -02 (PDRA-S01, -S02) and for operations under all Pre-Defined Risk Assessments published by EASA.
SDS is a professional training organization therefore we also offer training for drone pilots who have to fly under a SORA, in these cases the STS-01 training is not sufficient. Our training meets the requirements of UAS.SPEC.050.
Scandinavian Drone Solutions helps you all the way with theory and practice.

Category A1/A3 gives permission to fly drones from 0 kg to 0.5 kg and 2 kg to 25 kg The course deals exclusively with theory and takes place online. There are three categories: the open category, the specific category and the certified category. Most remote pilots only need to fly in the open category. When flying in the open category with an A1/A3 certificate you must:
- Fly with all drones under 0.5 kg and from 2 to 25 kg
- Fly below 120 meters altitude
- Fly according to the national order for drones (The Drone Order)
- Fly in places where overflying people can be avoided or completely avoided
The course covers topics such as drone rules (distances, heights, restrictions, zones, insurance etc.), privacy, navigation & cartography, meteorology, airmanship, human factors, drone technology and mission planning.
The course gives you the best possible preparation to become a good drone pilot and understand how the rules are connected. In addition, SDS will be available to prepare you for the test. Therefore, after completing the course, you must take an online multiple choice test.
Once you've taken the course, you'll know everything you need to know about rules - and how to fly. When you have passed the test, you will receive your certificate - and you are ready to fly legally in Denmark.
